Closing up shop for the end of days, I shook out the rugs and drew the shades, wondering if this life I made was just a distraction, but I pay no attention pay it no mind, it’s better than nothing, take it in stride, everything’s as it should be, I’m just part of the scenery, waiting on a new pair of hired hands to put a spin on my suffering, pin the blame on the back of another man. I resigned myself to my lot in life, tried to use up what little was left, but I paid a steep price going under the knife, came out looking like somebody else: a victim of circumstance nursing my pride, cursing the taste of it one last time, hanging on hoping that things were gonna get better, waiting on a new pair of hired hands to put a spin on my suffering, pin the blame on the back of some other man. Is it true what they say, has it all been in vain? Have we failed what we set out to do? In the dust and the haze did a prayer go astray winding its way back into your good graces, oh, why?
